Turn the page…

What does this mean? This year for my Goodreads challenge I committed to reading 20 books.  How many books did you commit to?

When I was younger I used to read a lot, but things have changed, we now have cellphones and a TV in every room, our favorite shows at our fingertips with streaming services. When my kids were little I still read, but as they got older, reading was put on the shelf. Years ago I gifted myself a Kindle paperwhite. I started to read again.

Now know, that during that time, when a Harry Potter book came out, I would pick it up and then read it in one go, pretty much. During that time I also discovered Mercedes Lackey and world of Valdemar. I loved all those books, but for the last I would say, 12 Years, I didn’t read much. Last year I managed to read 12 books. I love books, I love how they take to another world and give you a break from your daily life. But I haven’t found another series that gripped me and I could not wait to read the next book.

Now in the meantime for the past 8 years, I have read tons of fan-fiction some of them are equivalent to books. So maybe I didn’t give up on reading, just giving up on reading books.

This is 2021

So this year I am committed to reading 20 books. I have a few of them in my Queue on my kindle. Here is the list so far of the books I want to read. You can also find this list in my Bookshop.org affiliate link in the sidebar.

  • The Bear Moon by Halston Blake
  • Love, Death, and Vampires: an otherworldly Anthology by Halston Blake
  • Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah
  • conversations with RBG: Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Life, Love, and Law
  • The Tea Master and the Detective by Aliette De Bodard
  • The Martian by Andy Weir
  • Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

If you have any other suggestions for me, please feel free to let me know in a comment below.

How will I accomplish this goal?

I am setting aside time every evening to read for at least 30mins. Hopefully more. Also on the weekends I wanna sit and read, with a nice cup of Sew-Geek Tea.

What is your favorite place to read?

I will keep you updated or you can just follow me on Goodreads.

Until then Turn the Page and be blessed with clear blue skies.
