Sew-Geek? Where did Austin go?
As you noticed, there is a change in the name. After almost 6 years in the business, we dropped Austin. The reason we dropped it, is we don’t live in Austin any longer, actually, we haven’t in a long while. Also when people refer to my business, they always shorten it so Sew-Geek.
The decision wasn’t’ made lightly. We thought long and hard about it, but we are almost certain, it will be for the better. We even did a google search for Sew Geek and Sew Geek Austin is the first site that pops up. So we hope we can keep that momentum going. We will keep the old domain and will re-direct traffic to this site. Claudia hopes to flesh out the blog more this year.
Sew Geek 2018 will also see, tutorials, book, movie and fashion reviews. My team (aka my family) and I also strive to make more eco-friendly products. The expansion of the upcycled denim purses is imminent, beeswax food wraps and some other new items are in the works.
We are also switching our Unisex T-Shirts to the Bella & Canvas brand which are super soft and a lighter fabric. The brand is already in use for our ladies v-neck shirts. The unisex shirts are a bit more expensive, but we are not going to pass that cost onto our customers. This means that most of our T-Shirts start at $15.
Sew-Geek is also expanding their fandoms and going back to our roots, which put the Sew into our name, sewing.
We hope all of you will still enjoy our merchandise and will share it with your Geeky Friends.
