Claudia’s August Favorites

My August Favorites are a real mixed bag this time around.

Books:

Yes, you guessed it, Dragonfly in Amber is still on my nightstand. My hopes to finish it in August were not to be. I am not sure what it is that keeps me from finishing it.

Meanwhile, I also read a short novel by Brian Keene , whom I met at Killer Con in Austin this August. This novel was a gift from him.

The book is short and easy to read and has a bit of an apocalyptic feel to it. Once you finish it, you will think about things you never thought of and you will see humans a bit differently.

Movies:

All Hail the Popcorn king

I was privileged to help my awesome friend Hansi Oppenheimer from Squee Projects, with the World Premiere of her movie “All Hail the Popcorn King”. This movie is a beautiful Homage to Texas Author Joe R. Lansdale. He is the creator of such characters as Bubba Hotep and Hap & Leonard. During this delightful movie you fill find out what the now famous “popcorn dreams” are about. Therefore movie is great fun and Hansi did an amazing job with it. If you get a chance go see it.

TV:

Carnival Row

This is a show I have been waiting for since is saw the sneak peek trailer a couple of months back. The theme seems to be set in some sort of Steampunk era. The clothes is very Victorian. Hence my fascination with the trailer. Mystic creatures like fairies and pucks live with humans, therefore the show takes a deeper look at the issues this causes. The political revelancy is important to our day and age. I can only recommend this show.

Tech

I redid my website with this wonderful thing called Divi Theme Builder. At first, I had some troubles, but then after watching a few tutorial videos I got the hang of it. It made building my new website for Sew-Geek so much easier than I could have ever imagined. And after 7 years of selling online, I finally have a website, that is exactly what I wanted.

You should check it out.

These were my August Favorites,  I hope you enjoy these reviews with me and I will see you in September.
